Airdrie and Shotts is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of ten constituencies in the electoral region of Central Scotland and has remained unchanged since. Airdrie and Shotts is one of five constituencies within the North Lanarkshire Council Area . Airdrie is the largest city within its borders. The constituency sends a representative.
The constituency covers an area of 192.3 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 69,935 people lived within its borders.
