The Academic Burschenschaft Markomannia Wien zu Deggendorf is a dutiful fraternity in Deggendorf . The Burschenschaft Markomannia is a member of the German Burschenschaft (DB) and the Burschenschaftliche Gemeinschaft (BG). It was founded in Olomouc in 1860 as a country team holiday association and finally became a fraternity in 1889. The motto of the fraternity Markomannia has been from 1862 on its own . The fraternity is described and observed by the Bavarian State Office for the Protection of the Constitution as "right-wing extremist" because of indications of efforts against the free-democratic basic order . The allegations were rejected by the old man chairman of the fraternity.

history

Vienna

On September 10, 1860, 16 students from the University of Vienna , who came from Olomouc, founded the Olomutia Association , a holiday association based on a national team. H. only former high school students from Olomouc could be accepted. As Couleur colors colors they chose the city of Olomouc (red-white-red), as head Couleur opted for a black cloth cap. The first old men emerged in October 1861. Four months later, in February 1862, black-white-gold was chosen as the connecting colors, and the motto that is still current today was also created at this time: By your own efforts . In order to keep the connection alive, it was decided in May 1862 to drop the status of a compatriot and to adopt the status of an academic connection .

Since the end of 1862 there has been an unconditional satisfaction . In February 1863 the conversion into a fraternity is considered, discussed and also decided. In the same breath, the association took on the name Markomannia and celebrated the third foundation festival under the name Burschenschaft Markomannia .

In 1870 there was another conversion into a country team, the term fraternity was explicitly dispensed with. This was valid until 1898, because in that year the application for the final renaming to a fraternity was applied for and accepted.

In December 1918, after the end of the First World War , in which five members died, the fraternity resumed the fraternity . As early as 1919 the Aktivitas reached a level of 16  foxes , as many active and 14 inactive boys ; 108 Marcomanni gathered for the 60th Foundation Festival, the highest number that has ever been reached on such an occasion. In 1934 the fraternity of Markomannia acquired property in Vienna, but lost it for good after nine years, in 1943, due to the general situation.

During the Second World War all active members of the fraternity had to go to war, 13 members died. After the war, active operations in Vienna were resumed in May 1953.

Passau

In 1972 the fraternity of Markomannia had to adjourn for the first time. In January 1985 representatives of the Markomannia fraternity met with fraternity members from Passau . The reason for the meeting was a possible reconstitution of the federal government in the young university town of Passau. Due to the lack of new friars, the convent decided two months later to leave Vienna and move to Passau. In the 1985 summer semester, Bund moved into its constant in the city center.

In 1991 a friendship was established with the Germania Salzburg fraternity. Despite an intimate friendship, there is a bang . In addition, since 2002 there has been a friendship between the Thessalia Prague fraternity and Bayreuth.

Deggendorf

In 2003 the association based in Passau ceased its association activities. In 2008, several interested parties came together in Deggendorf and, over time, made contact with members of the association in Passau. In 2011 the association founded in Deggendorf took on the name "Academic Burschenschaft Markomannia Wien zu Deggendorf".
