Career

Ala Talkatsch is a scholarship holder of the Президентский спортивный клуб (President's Sports Club) . As a junior she made her debut from 2008 in Osrblie in the European Cup and immediately afterwards at the Junior World Championships 2008 in Ruhpolding and the Junior European Championships in Nové Město na Moravě . The best individual result was 36th place in the pursuit in Ruhpolding. She was more successful the following year at the 2009 European Junior Biathlon Championships in Ufa . If she was 32nd in the individual, she finished 21st in the sprint and twelfth in the pursuit race. With Darja Jurkewitsch and Maryja Kaslouskaja she reached second place with the Belarusian relay behind the representation from Russia and thus won the silver medal. In summer she started on roller skis at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2009 in Oberhof and won the silver medal behind the Russian team with the mixed relay ( Sawossik , Talkatsch, Ruzewitsch , Tschapelin ).

In the performance area she was used for the first time in December 2009 in Obertilliach as part of the IBU Cup, she contested the sprint and the pursuit, 59th and 37th were the placements. Almost three months later, in the 2009/10 World Cup season , she made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup at the seventh station in Kontiolahti in a sprint with 54th place and improved to 45th place in the subsequent pursuit. From then on, she started regularly in the World Cup, but was only used on the short distance, and was part of the Belarusian World Cup team from the start of the 2010/11 season. But after she was only 64th at the start of the season in the Östersund sprint , Talkatsch continued to compete in the B-team in the IBU Cup. At the Pokljuka World Cup she was 89. In Antholz, she also missed a qualification for the pursuit in 83rd place.

At the 2011 European Biathlon Championships in Ridnaun , she came in sixth after finishing 20th in the individual with the relay. In the following sprint, she was able to qualify as 34th for the pursuit, which she completed as 31st. In the winter of 2011/12 she started sprinting in the IBU Cup in Östersund. After a rather mediocre 37th place, it was used again in the World Cup shortly afterwards in the same place. However, neither there nor in Hochfilzen did she get a place in the points. At the Biathlon European Championships 2012 in Osrblie , she achieved three top 30 placements in the individual races and a fifth place in the relay.

In the following three years up to the end of her career in 2015, Talkatsch did not start in the World Cup. Only in the IBU Cup she was part of the Belarusian squad. At the 2014 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě , she won the gold medal in the relay race together with Iryna Kryuko , Aksana Schymanowitsch and Nastassja Kalina . It remained her first and only major title.
