Albert Crusius

Karl Gustav Emil Albert Crusius (born January 19, 1820 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † January 19, 1884 in Kolbermünde) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 5th Field Artillery Brigade .

Life

Albert was a son of the Prussian Prime Lieutenant Johann Gotthilf Ludwig Crusius (1789–1862) and his wife Johanna, nee Blell (1800–1830).

Military career

Crusius attended high school in Stendal and, after graduating, joined the 3rd Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner . From October 1, 1838 to June 30, 1841 he was commanded for further training at the United Artillery and Engineering School and at the beginning of October 1840 he advanced to the position of extra-budget lieutenant . On January 6, 1842, he was transferred to the 2nd Artillery Brigade as an artillery officer. He was then appointed department adjutant on April 1, 1844. On December 26, 1848 the brigade aggregated and transferred to the fireworks department . He came to the 1st Artillery Inspection on March 22, 1849 as 2nd Adjutant and was aggregated to the 2nd Artillery Brigade. Promoted to Prime Lieutenant on June 22, 1852, he was promoted to Adjutant on June 26, 1855. He was promoted to captain on February 1, 1857 and transferred to the 5th Artillery Regiment on May 1, 1858 with a patent from October 14, 1853 as a battery chief. There he rose to major on March 17, 1863. On July 7, 1864, he joined the 8th Artillery Brigade and became an artillery officer from the field in Luxembourg. On March 15, 1866, he was transferred to the 3rd Artillery Brigade while leaving his position. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on December 31, 1866 with a patent dated October 30, 1866 . On January 19, 1867, he was returned to his position as an artillery officer and transferred to the 8th Artillery Brigade. On January 14, 1868 he was transferred to the 1st Division of Field Artillery Regiment No. 4 as a commander, and on January 19, 1868 he was awarded the Crown Order III. Class. He was appointed commander of Field Artillery Regiment No. 4 on May 13, 1869 and promoted to colonel on June 18, 1869 .

During the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , Crusius was commander of the artillery corps of the IV Army Corps . In this capacity he took part in the battles at Beaumont , Sedan , Pierrefitte, Eponay and Mont Valerien, as well as the siege of Paris . Awarded both classes of the Iron Cross , he was appointed commander of the 5th Artillery Brigade after the war on August 8, 1872 under position à la suite of his regiment.
