Albert von Klaß

Heinrich Albert von Klaß (born July 16, 1801 in Döbra , † April 10, 1873 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 30th Infantry Brigade .

Life

Albert was a son of Johann Heinrich von Klaß (1740–1815) and his wife Eva Katharina, born of Ludwig (1762–1830). His father was a privy councilor and director of the accounting chamber as well as a gentleman in Albertshagen, Eichow and Fuchsheim. His brother Wilhelm was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Military career

Klaß visited the cadet house in Dresden and joined the 1st Guard Regiment on foot of the Prussian Army on July 1, 1817 as a fusilier . On December 26, 1820, he was promoted to secondary lieutenant in the 15th Infantry Regiment and was promoted to captain and company commander by the end of July 1842 . On March 31, 1846, he was transferred to the 18th Infantry Regiment with a patent from June 15, 1842 . Promoted to major on July 8, 1848 , he became commander of the 1st Combined Reserve Battalion on February 3, 1849. In the same year, Klaß took part in the war against Denmark and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords. On November 22, 1849, he returned to the 18th Infantry Regiment as commander of the Fusilier Battalion, and on March 22, 1853, he became a lieutenant colonel . On May 7, 1857, Klaß was appointed commander of the 17th Infantry Regiment and promoted to colonel on October 15, 1857. On June 1, 1860, he was promoted to major general and was appointed commander of the 30th Infantry Brigade in Cologne . On September 20, 1862 he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with swords on the ring. On January 3, 1862 Klass was with board for disposition found and died at the age of 71 years on April 10, 1873 in Berlin.

Klaß married Pauline Uhlig (1811–1873) on April 11, 1831 in Dresden. The couple had two children:

  • Karoline Auguste Klara (1834–1875)
