Albrecht Sack (born October 10, 1964 in Leipzig ) is a German tenor .

Sack received piano and singing lessons at pre-school age. The time as a member of the Leipzig St. Thomas Choir was decisive for his musical development .

Life

After his membership in the St. Thomas' Choir from 1974 to 1983 , he studied from 1987 to 1992 at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . He is a member of the MDR Radio Choir Leipzig .

The focus of his solo concert activities is in the fields of oratorio and lied. His repertoire ranges from Monteverdi and Schütz through Bach , Handel , Haydn , Schubert , Schumann , Brahms and Beethoven to Orff , Weill , Hessenberg and Britten in the 20th century . He can be heard particularly frequently in Bach's great vocal works.

Concert tours have taken him to the USA, Japan, France, Denmark, Luxembourg, Poland, the Czech Republic and Russia. In Germany he performed in the Musikhalle Hamburg , the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig . He worked with well-known ensembles such as the Thomanerchor, the Dresden Kreuzchor , the Dresdner Kapellknaben , the Tokyo Bach Choir and the Aachen Cathedral Choir .

He was a guest at the Leipzig Bach Festival , the Music Festival and the Dresden Days of Contemporary Music , the Thuringian Bach Days and the Halle Handel Festival . He worked with conductors and choir directors such as Georg Christoph Biller , Andreas Göpfert , Armin Klaes , Roderich Kreile , Fabio Luisi , Kurt Masur , Hans-Christoph Rademann and Peter Schreier .

The musical work of Albrecht Sack is documented through radio and television recordings as well as CD recordings.
