Aleksandar Knežević (born December 26, 1968 in Banja Luka , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a handball coach and former handball player .

Career

From 2009 he was the coach of the women's Bundesliga team at Frisch Auf Göppingen . Since 2012 he has been managing director of the women's national league team from Frisch auf Göppingen and since 2014 he has been the sporting director of the men's national league team from Frisch auf Göppingen. On December 3, 2013, after the leave of absence from Velimir Petković , he took over the coaching position of the Göppingen men's Bundesliga team until the end of the 2013/14 season . His successor in the women's team was Nedeljko Vujinović , the previous assistant coach of the men's team. He then took over again as the coach of the women's team.

In his active career, Knežević played for RK Borac Banja Luka , RK Roter Stern Belgrade , RK Partizan Belgrade , USM Gagny, Cuenca, BSV Borba Luzern and Frisch Auf Göppingen . For Göppingen he played a total of 57 games in the handball Bundesliga , in which he threw 223 goals. He played 136 times for the Yugoslav national team. With BR Yugoslavia he took part in the 2000 Olympic Games .
