Alessandro Carmelo Ruffinoni CS (born August 26, 1943 in Piazza Brembana ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Caxias do Sul in Brazil .

Life

Alessandro Carmelo Ruffinoni joined the religious order of the Congregatio Scalabriniana , made his profession on October 2, 1961 and was ordained a priest on March 8, 1970 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on January 18, 2006 auxiliary bishop in Porto Alegre and titular bishop of Furnos Maior . The Archbishop of Porto Alegre, Dadeus Grings , donated him episcopal ordination on March 17th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Aloísio Sinésio Bohn , Bishop of Santa Cruz do Sul , and Redovino Rizzardo CS, Bishop of Dourados . As a motto he chose Na Igreja ninguém è estrangeiro .

On June 16, 2010, he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Caxias do Sul . With the retirement of Nei Paulo Moretto on July 6 of the next year, he succeeded him as Bishop of Caxias do Sul.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on June 26, 2019.
