Alessia Crippa (born June 26, 2000 ) is an Italian skeleton pilot .

Career

The former ski racer joined the Skeleton Sport and made his debut in the season 2015/16 in the Skeleton European Cup . She completed her first competition on January 14, 2016 at the Königssee artificial ice rink in Schönau am Königssee . She finished the competition in 21st place. One day later she took 25th place in the second competition in Königssee . She confirmed 21st place as her best result of the season on January 27th in St. Moritz at the European Cup race there. One day later she took 23rd place in the second competition. With these four starts she collected 34 points and at the end of the season she finished 33rd overall. In the following season she started again in the Skeleton European Cup and was again unable to achieve any placements and the top 20. Her best placement was 23rd place on November 17, 2016 at Königssee .

After starting the 2017/18 season with two 24th places in Winterberg , she was able to achieve a top 20 result for the first time on January 12, 2018 in Altenberg and finished the competition in 16th place. A week later she was able to improve on the 16th place on January 19th on the track in Innsbruck-Igls and finished the competition there in 15th place. In the four competitions, Alessia Crippa scored 56 points and came in 29th overall. At the end of the season, she took part in a skeleton junior world championship for the first time in her career and on January 25, 2018, she finished 13th as the best Italian at the 2018 skeleton junior world championship in St. Moritz .

She started the 2018/19 season in Innsbruck on November 16 and 17, 2018 with a 17th and a 14th place. At the European Cup in Altenberg , she was able to occupy a top ten place in the Skeleton European Cup for the first time on January 11, 2019 , when she finished the competition in eighth place. One day later she finished eighth again in the second race on the ENSO ice channel . At the end of the season she finished 17th with 140 points. At the end of the season, she took part in the 2020 Junior World Championship in Königssee on February 3 . With the 14th place she was again the best Italian, as in the previous year.

In the 2019/20 season, Alessia Crippa competed in all three skeleton racing series. She started the season on November 23, 2019 in Sochi and made her debut in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup . She finished her debut in ninth place on a top ten place. One day later she finished ninth again in the second race in the Sanki Sliding Center . After taking seventh place in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup on December 7th in Winterberg and on December 14th in Königssee , she started the European Cup on January 10th, 2020 in Innsbruck . Behind the Russian Alina Tararytschenkowa in front of her own teammate Valentina Margaglio , she finished the race in second place. One day later she finished second in the second race on the bobsleigh Igls artificial ice rink, this time behind Amelia Coltman from the United Kingdom and ahead of the Russian Alina Tararytschenkowa.

After finishing seventh in the European Cup race in Sigulda on January 18, 2020 , she made her debut for Italy in the Skeleton World Cup on January 24 . In the Königssee she finished 22nd in her first World Cup race in the first run, which means she missed the second run. On February 9, 2020, Alessia Crippa competed in the 2020 Skeleton Junior World Championship in Winterberg and was able to take eighth place as the best Italian starter. Thanks to the results of the season, Alessia Crippa and Valentina Margaglio were able to secure two places in the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships for Italy via the IBSF ranking . On February 28 and 29, 2020 in Altenberg at the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships 2020 in four races, the skeleton world champion was sought. Before the first run, the strap on Crippa's helmet broke. Because of this, her start was postponed so that a replacement helmet could be obtained for her. Despite this incident, Alessia Crippa made her debut and was able to finish the World Championships in 22nd place. On March 1st, she started together with Amedeo Bagnis on the ENSO ice canal in the mixed competition, which was held for the first time, and the two finished the competition in 14th and penultimate place.
