The Aletschhorn is a 4193 m (according to other information also 4195 m ) high, glaciated mountain peak in the canton of Valais , in the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn region , which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . After the Finsteraarhorn , it is the second highest point in the massif of the Bernese Alps . While the Great Aletschfirn is on its northern flank, the mountain is the starting point of the Oberaletsch Glacier (to the southwest) and the Mittelaletsch Glacier (to the southeast), both in the catchment area of the Aletsch Glacier .
The Aletschhorn is considered the coldest mountain in the Alps .
