Alexander William Gaskarth (born December 14, 1987 in Essex , England ) is an American singer and songwriter. He is the frontman of the pop-punk band All Time Low from Baltimore , Maryland .

Life

Birth and childhood

Alex Gaskarth was born in Essex on December 14, 1987 to Isobel and Peter Gaskarth . At the age of seven, Gaskarth and his family moved to the United States , where they settled in Towson , a suburb of Baltimore , Maryland . He has two half sisters, his half brother Tom died when Gaskarth was 12 years old.

All time low

Gaskarth began in 2002, with the later guitarist of All Time Low , Jack Barakat , making music. Both were still in high school at the time. In 2003 he founded the band All Time Low with Barakat, which was joined by drummer Rian Dawson, a schoolmate of Barakat and bassist Zack Merrick. The band released their first EP The Three Words To Remember In Dealing With The End in 2004 on the local label Emerald Moon Records . In 2005 the band signed a contract with Hopeless Records and released their debut album The Party Scene . Together with All Time Low, Gaskarth has released five more albums so far. The single Dear Maria, Count Me In from the 2008 album So Wrong, It's Right went platinum in the US in 2015 .

From 2013 he and his bandmate Jack Barakat presented the radio podcast Full Frontal on the idobi station . In June 2020 the spiritual successor to Full Frontal started with the podcast Crash Test Live , which is again moderated by Gaskarth and Barakat. Barakat and Gaskarth also hosted the Alternative Press Music Awards 2015 . They took on this role again in 2016.

Others

Gaskarth owns his own series at the fashion label Glamor Kills Clothing , which he sells under the name AWG . He has often appeared as a guest musician, u. a. 2011 in the song Freaking Me Out , the band Simple Plan . He can also be heard in the song Kiss Me Again by We Are the In Crowd . He worked as a producer on the 5 Seconds of Summer album Sounds Good Feels Good .

In January 2019 it was announced that Gaskarth, in addition to his work on All Time Low , founded the band Simple Creatures together with Mark Hoppus , the singer of the band blink-182 . Together they released the song Drug .

Private

Alex Gaskarth has been married to his long-time girlfriend Lisa Ruocco since April 2016.
