Alex Greenwood (born September 7, 1993 in Liverpool ) is an English national soccer player who has played for Manchester United Women since 2018 .
Career
society
Greenwood played from 2010 to the end of 2014 for the English first division club Everton LFC , with whom she took part in the 2010/11 UEFA Women's Champions League . For the 2015 FA Women's Super League season, she moved to Notts County and from there to Liverpool LFC a year later .
With the start of the 2018/19 season, she plays for Manchester United Women . She led the team as captain to the championship in the FA Women's Championship , the second highest division in English women's football, so that the club can play in the FA Women's Super League next season .
National team
Greenwood played from 2010 to 2012 in the English U-19 national team and took part with this in the U-19 European Championship in 2012 . On March 5, 2014, she made her debut against Italy in the English senior team , and scored her first goal on September 17 of the same year against Montenegro .
In March 2015 she helped win the Cyprus Cup for the third time . They were able to draw level with the Canadians by beating record winners Canada 1-0 .
At the 2015 World Cup in Canada, Greenwood was part of the English squad . She came on for the first time in the second group game against Mexico . In the third group game against Colombia , she was in the starting line-up, but was only used again in the game for third place against Germany - also in the starting line-up - and was able to celebrate a victory against Germany with her team for the first time.
In the subsequent qualification for the 2017 European Championship , it was used in three games. She was then also part of the EM squad, but was only used in the last group game against Portugal .
In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , she made four appearances. In March 2019, she won the SheBelieves Cup for the first time , and was used in the victories against Brazil (2: 1) and Japan (3: 0). This was followed by a 2-1 home win against Spain and on May 8, the nomination for the World Cup . At the World Cup it was used in two group matches, the round of 16 against Cameroon (goal to 3-0 final score) and in the game for third place against Sweden , which was lost 2-1. She played over 90 minutes in each of the four games.
