Alex Silva , full name Alex Sandro da Silva (born March 10, 1985 in Amparo , São Paulo state ) is a Brazilian football player .
Career
society
Alex began his career at AA Ponte Preta , for whose youth teams he played until 2003. At the beginning of 2004 he moved to EC Vitória , with which he won the championship of the state of Bahia in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In October 2005, Silva moved to the Iraty Sport Club , from which he was loaned to São Paulo FC in January 2006 . With São Paulo FC he won the Brazilian championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008 . On August 27, 2008, Silva signed a contract with Hamburger SV until 2013. He was intended as the successor to the Belgian national player Vincent Kompany , who had moved to Manchester City at the beginning of the season . In the first half of the 2008/09 season, the trained central defender was mainly used in defensive midfield after Nigel de Jong's injury.
Alex Silva tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee on July 8, 2009 during a friendly against FC Wacker Innsbruck and was out for eight months.
On January 23, 2010 Alex Silva returned to São Paulo on loan until July 30, 2011 . In the summer break of 2011 he moved to CR Flamengo and signed a four-year contract until 2015. On March 29, 2012 it was announced that Alex Silva would be awarded to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte .
Between August 2013 and April 2015 Alex Silva played at Boa EC , São Bernardo FC and Brasiliense FC . He is currently without a club.
National team
Alex Silva was appointed for the first time in the squad of the Brazilian national football team for the Copa America 2007 in Venezuela . In Brazil's third group game against Ecuador, he made his first international match when he came on for Dani Alves in the 80th minute . In the other games he was not used. Brazil won the tournament by beating Argentina in the final . Silva also took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he was used in five out of six games and won the bronze medal.
