Alexander Remus

Alexander Remus (born January 12, 1887 in Wohlau , Lower Silesia , † June 21, 1964 in Kassel ) was a German medical officer in the Wehrmacht , most recently with the rank of general staff doctor .

Life

Alexander Remus studied at the Kaiser-Wilhelms-Akademie for military medical education in Berlin and was active in the Pépinière-Corps Franconia from 1905 . He was also a member of the Münster Freemason Lodge to the three bars . In 1911, after completing his dissertation, he was a junior doctor and later an assistant doctor in the 16th Infantry Regiment .

Remus was around 1933 as a general assistant medical chief physician at the Reichswehr military hospital in Berlin-Tempelhof . He was promoted to general physician with effect from October 1, 1937 and general staff physician with effect from April 1, 1941. From August 26, 1939 to October 9, 1939 and from April 1, 1942 to 1945, he was corps doctor of the IX. Army corps in Kassel . With the Army Corps he took in the Second World War, including at the Operation Barbarossa and later at the invasion of France and the Battle of Moscow in part.

From November 1940 he was an army doctor in the army corps of the southern border section, then moved from March 12, 1940 to April 1942, replaced by the general staff doctor Karl Meinardus , in the same position in the 16th Army .

After the war he became a specialist in internal medicine and from 1933 he was a full member of the German Society for Internal Medicine .

He died at the age of 77 and was buried in the military cemetery in Kassel.
