Alexander Smoltczyk
Alexander Smoltczyk (* 1958 in Berlin ) is a German journalist .
Life
Alexander Smoltczyk was born in Berlin in 1958 and graduated from the Goldberg Gymnasium in Sindelfingen in 1978 . After his community service, with the Action Reconciliation in France, he studied economics, political science and agricultural economics (diploma, License ès Sc. Eco.) In Berlin and Montpellier as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . Smoltczyk has written for taz , merian , GEO , weekly mail and mare , among others . He has been a reporter for SPIEGEL since 1997 .
Smoltczyk lived as a correspondent in Paris , Rome , Abu Dhabi and Lisbon . His column Oops! Was published on Spiegel Online . Et orbi , followed in June 2010 by golf for beginners .

Awards
- For his work Das Loch in Mitte in the Wochenpost he was awarded the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize in 1995.
- In 2007 he received the Henri Nannen Prize in the “Particularly Understandable Reporting” category for his Spiegel contribution The Fallible on Pope Benedict XVI.
- In 2012 he received a Henri Nannen Prize in the “Best Documentation” category, in a team with Ferry Batzoglou , Manfred Ertel , Ullrich Fichtner , Hauke Goos , Ralf Hoppe , Thomas Hüetlin , Guido Mingels , Christian Reiermann , Cordt Schnibben , Christoph Schult and Thomas Schulz , for a bomb idea , appeared in the mirror .
- In 2004, together with Matthias Geyer, the Georg von Holtzbrinck Prize for Business Journalism ("Operation Dosenpfand - With German Thoroughness Into Chaos", "The Nuremberg Laboratory", both published in Spiegel).
- 2017: Robert Geisendörfer Prize (author, television: Bataclan terminus. From bus driver to assassin )
