Alexander Wielemans of Monteforte
Alexander Wielemans von Monteforte (born February 4, 1843 in Vienna , † October 7, 1911 in Dornbach , Vienna) was an Austrian architect of late historicism .
Life
Alexander Wielemans-Monteforte came from a family of Austrian officers. His father Alexander Wielemans was raised to the hereditary Austrian nobility in 1859 as "Wielemans von Monteforte". Alexander Wielemans-Monteforte studied at the Vienna Academy with Eduard van der Nüll , August Sicard von Sicardsburg and cathedral builder Friedrich von Schmidt , in whose studio he also worked until 1874. In 1888, Wielemans-Monteforte, who had meanwhile been appointed senior building officer, became an honorary member of the academy. From then on, Wielemans-Monteforte, partly together with his fellow student Theodor Reuter , was responsible for representative historicist buildings on a public contract (e.g. Palace of Justice in Vienna, completed in 1881; renovation of the Graz town hall , 1887 to 1895, together with Theodor Reuter).
Wielemans-Monteforte honor was 1912 Wielemans alley named, it runs from the 17th district Hernals 18th district Währing .
