Alexandra Fischer-Hunold (* 1966 in Düsseldorf ) is a German author of books for children and young people whose works are set in the fantasy , adventure, crime and school sectors.

Life

After graduating from high school, Alexandra Fischer-Hunold studied German and English, completed a bank apprenticeship and then worked at the Cologne travel guide publisher DuMont . As a teenager, after reading Astrid Lindgren's works and getting to know the character of the writing Mr Melcher Melcherson while on vacation on Crow Island, she made the decision to write “exciting stories for children” one day. Since the birth of her daughter in 1997, she has been writing her dissertation on Michael Ende and writing children's books and reading stories. Her books are aimed primarily at female audiences between the ages of six and ten. The author has developed several series, such as B.Die Gespensterschule , Laura @ Internat and the Princess Rosalea series and various guessing stories written against different national backgrounds. One of her most unusual projects was the child-friendly story of Konrad Adenauer : Konrad, the Chancellor: Konrad Adenauer - his life for children told (2009), where she was able to fall back on the extensive knowledge of her cousin and oldest grandson Konrad Adenauer with the same name.

In 2008, Alexandra Fischer-Hunold was among other things, alongside Günter Wallraff, the only female writer on the jurors of the German Reading Prize .

For Lord Gordon - A pug on a royal mission , she received the Hansjörg Martin Prize in 2017 .

Some of her works have been translated into Dutch , Romansh and Hungarian .

Alexandra Fischer-Hunold lives with her husband and daughter and a dog named Boatswain as a memory of Lindgren in Westphalia in Münster-Gievenbeck .

review

Concerning Konrad, the Chancellor: Konrad Adenauer - his life told for children (2009), Constantin Graf von Hoensbroech said that the author succeeds in “skillfully telling the many historical data and facts in connection with the life of the Chancellor as a story with stories and history just not to be worked through as the stringing together of dust-dry data and facts. The timeline with the most important dates and events is very helpful and instructive at the end of the book. The result is a book that is well worth reading, which gets its charm from its successful mixture of lively narrative, exact history and child-friendly illustration and certainly also reports some surprising things for Adenau connoisseurs and those interested in politics ”.

Cornelia Geißler praised the concept of crime thrillers in the Berliner Zeitung : “In the action texts, factual information and elements of tension merge inconspicuously. At the end of each book there is more background information on the respective country, the living conditions and above all on nature. This is how reading makes you smart ”.

However, the author's excursion into the area of romantic infatuation among young people ( Biete Luftschloss, looking for a dream prince ) did not necessarily go down well with her readers, as an 11-year-old on behalf of the Hessischer Rundfunk said at the Frankfurt Book Fair : the book was rather mediocre to be endured because of its lengths and only because of the relatively loose writing. “The basic idea on which the story is built [is] not new, and after the third chapter at the latest, everyone can imagine how it will end anyway. Then the non-stop gossip from Tabea about Jan-Justus really annoys me. She really sees everything through the pink glasses! You can't stand that! "
