Alexei Almoukov (born March 22, 1990 ) is an Australian cross-country skier and biathlete .
Career
Alexei Almoukov lives in Berridale and is trained by the former cross-country skier Nick Almoukov . He has been participating in international races since 2009. He contested his first races as part of the IBU Cup in Altenberg . He finished 67th in the individual and 64th in the sprint. Immediately afterwards Almoukov was used for the first time in the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding . In his first sprint, the Australian reached 116th place, in the following sprint in Antholz he was 110. He ran the next races as the second Australian starter alongside Mark Raymond at the 2009 Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang . At the world championships in South Korea, the Australian finished 95th in the individual and 110th in the sprint. The 95th place was a good result for Australian biathletes and at the same time the best World Cup result for the junior biathlete who had only started biathlon in 2008. Then Almoukov ran in Ufa at the 2009 European Biathlon Championships and was 50th in the sprint.
Almoukov made his debut as a cross-country skier in 2004 at the Cross-Country Skiing Australia / New Zealand Cup , and since 2005 he has achieved good results. The results at the Junior World Championships in Kranj in 2006 were less good with rank 87 in the sprint as the best result. In Perisher Valley , he first appeared in the Australian championships in 2006 and was ninth over 15 kilometers. Also in the following years Almoukov started in FIS races and in the cross-country skiing Australia / New Zealand Cup, in August 2007 a third place in a 10-kilometer race in Perisher Valley was the best result. The Australia also took part in the Junior World Championships in Tarvisio in 2007 , in Val Venosta in 2008 and in Le Praz-de-Lys-Sommand in 2009 . He achieved his best results in 2009 with places 46 over 10 kilometers and 55 in the pursuit. The best result at national championships was winning the bronze medal over 15 kilometers in Falls Creek 2007.
At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi he took up for Australia. His best World Cup result so far was a 33rd place in the 2012/13 season in the Sochi singles. Almoukov contested his last race so far in Khanty-Mansiysk in 2015 , where he finished 81st in the sprint.
