Alexei Mikhnov ( Russian Алексей Павлович Михнов , Ukrainian Олексій Павлович Міхнов / Olexij Pawlowytsch Michnow * 31 August 1982 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian - Russian ice hockey player , who at since 2019 Metallurg Zhlobin in the Belarusian Extraliga plays. His brother Andrij is also a hockey player.

Career

Alexei Michnow began his career as a hockey player in the youth division of Lokomotive Yaroslavl , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 1997 to 2000 . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the first round as a total of 17th player by the Edmonton Oilers . Initially, however, the winger stayed in Russia, where he changed clubs several times in the 2000/01 season. He started the season in the second team of Kristall Elektrostal in the Pervaya League, then moved to THK Tver from the Vysschaya League , the second Russian division, and finished it with its league rivals, the second team of HK CSKA Moscow . The 2001/02 season began with the Ukrainian with a Russian passport at Salawat Julajew Ufa in the Superleague , but after just one game he was already committed by its league rivals, the traditional club HK Dynamo Moscow , where he had a regular place in the top Russian league until the end of the season would have.

In the summer of 2002 Michnow moved within the Super League to HK Sibir Novosibirsk , where he stayed for two and a half years before returning to Lokomotive Yaroslavl during the 2004/05 season . The 2006/07 season he began with the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League , for which he completed only two games before moving to the American Hockey League for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins . After 18 scorer points, including six goals in 27 games, he returned to Yaroslavl, for which he played until the end of the 2010/11 season, first in the Super League and from the 2008/09 season in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . For the 2011/12 season Michnow was signed by HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . In July 2012, the existing contract was terminated and Michnow completed a trial training at Atlant Mytishchi , which ultimately led to Michnow's commitment.

In the 2014/15 season he was initially under contract with THK Tver for a month before he was signed by Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg in September 2014 . For the following season he moved to HK Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk , before he returned to Awtomobilist in November - with a stopover at THK Tver. In the 2017/18 season he was team captain at Awtomobilist.

From July 2018 Michnow was under contract with Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk , moved to HSC Csíkszereda in October 2018 , for which he played in the multinational First League , and returned to the KHL in December 2018 when he was signed by Severstal Tscherepowez .

He has been under contract with Metallurg Schlobin since summer 2019 .

International

Michnow took part in the 2006 World Cup for Russia . He was also in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 .
