history
It was not until 1988 that the club rose to the Primera División . But so far it has not been enough to win a national title. Between 1928 and 1986 Alianza was able to win the Liga de Sullana , the regional championship, 35 times . For the 1989 season, the team prevailed against eight other teams and thus won the northern zone championship. This qualified the team for the first round championship games. Alianza won twice in five games and also reached two more draws. In the decisive game against Sporting Cristal , the team lost 2-0 and were only runner-up. For the second round championship they qualified again, but could not achieve a better result. The following year the club failed for the first half of the season in the zone league at Sport Pacífico . In the second part of the season, however, first place was earned again. After a disappointing start in 1991, 29 points were enough for the second half of the season in the north zone championship. But as in previous years, the club was not good enough in the finals.
After changing the game mode for the 1992 season, the national champions were played in a joint league. For Alianza it was only enough for eleventh place in the first year after the merging of the leagues. A year later they secured relegation late. Also in 1994 the club had to tremble for a long time, but was able to prevent the impending relegation. In the 1995 season, Alianza earned a safe midfield position, but moved back close to the relegation ranks the following year. When they finished seventh in the first half of the season and even fourth in the second half of the season, the team qualified for the championship round for the first time in five years. But with only one win and two draws, only fifth place was certain in the end. A guarantor for this season was striker Ricardo Zegarra , who scored seventeen goals and became the top scorer in the first division. Alianza reached only fourth from last place in 1998, but with a total of fifty points had fifteen more than the first relegated Deportivo Municipal . Between 1999 and 2003 Alianza settled in the upper third of the table.
For the second half of 2003 it was even enough to become runner-up. In the overall table, the team was fifth and had the first chance to qualify for the Copa Libertadores . In the qualifying games, however, the club failed to Club Sportivo Cienciano , and so it was only enough for the first participation in the Copa Sudamericana . In the first international competitive game in the club's history, the team faced league rivals Coronel Bolognesi and Colombian representative Atlético Junior . But you could only win one of four games. So Alianza dropped out of the competition early on. In 2005, the club again managed to win participation in the Copa Sudamericana. Against the Peruvian team Universitario de Deportes they prevailed on penalties, and in the next game they set the course for the next round after a 2-0 first leg win against CD Universidad Católica from Chile .
But with a clear 5-0 defeat in the second leg it was over again after the second opponent. In 2005, 2006 and 2007 Alianza had more problems in the league again, and they missed every participation in an international competition. Only in 2008, when they finished sixth after the first and second half of the season, was it enough for fifth place in the overall calculation. With 72 points they had as much as Sport Áncash and CD Universidad César Vallejo , but were better placed because of the clearly better goal difference. In the first round of the Copa Sudamericana 2009, the team met the Venezuelan representative Deportivo Anzoátegui SC . With 2: 1 after two games, the club moved into the next round, where they met Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . After a respectable 2-2 in the first game, Alianza was eliminated after a 4-1 in Brazil.
Stadion
The club plays its home games at the Estadio Campeones del 36 in Sullana . The football stadium was built in 2000 and can accommodate 8,000 guests. There are plans to expand it.
