Alice in Wonderland (or Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (A Fairy Comedy) ), by the American Edison Manufacturing Company , is the second Alice in Wonderland film adaptation and the first to be made in the USA . The film is based on the book of the same name by Lewis Carroll and was produced in the USA in 1910. It consists of a total of 14 scenes and was shot in the Bronx . The first film adaptation of the material was made in Great Britain in 1903 .
The New York Dramatic Mirror magazine reviewed the film in its September 14, 1910 issue. "This is the most original and interesting film in a long time," was the summary verdict. In particular, the trick in which Alice shrinks met the approval of the critic. He compared it appreciatively with the similar effect of the older British film adaptation and wrote that the portrayal was equally "skillfully implemented at the beginning of her (Alice's) adventures".
