Alice in Wonderland ( Japanese ふ し ぎ の 国 の ア リ ス , Fushigi no kuni no Arisu ) is a Japanese anime series from 1983. It comprises 52 episodes and is based on the children's book of the same name by Lewis Carroll from 1865 and its sequel Alice behind the mirrors .
action
Little Alice follows a large, white rabbit into a hole in the ground and soon ends up in a world full of fantastic things and strange inhabitants - the wonderland. In every episode, Alice finds herself in Wonderland, where she experiences exciting and curious adventures. It remains unclear whether Alice only dreams or actually experiences the adventure.
characters
- Alice
Alice is a little girl with blue eyes and hip-length, dark blonde hair. She wears a red hat with a long hat bow and a red dress with a white apron. She also wears white tights and black buckled shoes. Alice is a dreamy but thoughtful child with a lot of imagination. She gets into trouble more often in the real world with her family and head of house because she can easily misunderstand instructions and / or arguments. Then she takes refuge in Wonderland, where Alice can often help the residents with her advice and ideas.
- Benny Bunny
Benny Bunny is a small, white rabbit with red dungarees that always accompanies Alice to Wonderland. It was specially conceived for the anime series; it does not appear in the novel by Lewis Carroll. In contrast to the real world, he can speak in wonderland. Benny is the nephew of the Great White Rabbit and gets along well with most of the residents of the wonderland.
- The great white rabbit
The Great White Rabbit is the secretary and time teller at the court of the Queen of Hearts. She wears a green button shirt, over it a brown waistcoat with a high, white stand-up collar and a blue bow tie. He's always in a hurry, so he keeps looking at his gold pocket watch . With his nervous demeanor and constant admonitions to be punctual, the Great White Rabbit repeatedly (unintentionally) causes chaos.
- The Cheshire Cat
The Cheshire Cat is a chubby, orange and yellow striped cat. As the name suggests, she's always grinning. She can also make herself invisible until all you can see is her grin. Both Alice and some of the residents of Wonderland prefer to avoid the Cheshire Cat in problematic situations, because she either tells nonsense or often pours fuel on the fire with her spiteful comments.
- Tweedledee and Tweedledum
They are identical twins with thinning, thin hair, they both wear blue dungarees and beige shirts with fine, dark horizontal stripes. Their caps are red and blue striped lengthways and have small propellers. The twins argue a lot with each other and Alice then has to help them out.
- The Queen of Hearts
The Queen of Hearts is the Queen of Wonderland. She is corpulent, a little shorter than Alice and she wears a golden yellow crown with red hearts on it. She covers her brown hair with a white veil that extends to her shoulders. While her husband, the King of Hearts, is rather good-natured, she tends to be quick-tempered and arbitrary. Again and again she threatens to behead others, including Alice. In a later episode, however, it is learned that she has never once let these threats come true.
- Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty is an egg that lives on a wall. She wears a blue suit with a high white stand-up collar and a yellow tie. One day Humpty Dumpty falls from his wall, but thanks to Alice and his best and probably only friend, the King of Hearts, he can be saved at the last moment.
- The Jabberwocky
A dragon who lives in a castle on a cliff, over which black storm clouds are always hanging. It has an orange mane, silver horns and small, purple bat wings. He's also wearing a black and brown vest. The Jabberwocky likes to sing and protects his bed with blue flowers, which he takes care of. He is extremely quick-tempered and is feared by the people of Wonderland. Nevertheless he sometimes lets Alice persuade him to help.
- The little blue caterpillar
The caterpillar named Absolem lives on a large mushroom, which makes whoever eats a piece of it larger or smaller as needed. She is helpful and always has advice for Alice. She is probably the smartest resident in Wunderland, and she is fully aware of it.
- The crazy milliner
Have a never-ending tea party with friends, the March Bunny and the Mouse. The trio is also always enthusiastic about non-birthday celebrations, whereby the always tired and sleepy mouse often takes a nap in the teacup of the March hare.
