The Alis is a French research vessel belonging to the Ifremer Marine Research Institute .
General
The ship was on the shipyard Piriou in Concarneau built and delivered in July 1987th It belongs to the Institut de Research for Development, bereedert it is of Genavir.
The ship is stationed in the French overseas territory New Caledonia and is used for research trips in the South Pacific .
There is space on board for 18 people, 12 crew members and six scientists. The ship can stay at sea for up to 18 days.
Technical data and equipment
The ship is propelled by a four - stroke sixteen- cylinder diesel engine made by Deutz (type: SBA 16M816) with 649 kW of power , which acts on a controllable pitch propeller . The ship reaches a speed of 12 knots . It is equipped with a bow thruster .
A generator with 96 kW power (120 kVA apparent power ) and a diesel generator with 68 kW power (85 kVA apparent power) are available for power generation.
The ship is equipped with various winches as well as sonar , echo sounder and other equipment required for research. On the port side there is a crane that can lift 2.5 t. The ship has a swiveling stern boom with a lifting capacity of 5 t. A gantry crane that can be pivoted to the starboard side and can lift a ton is installed as a further lifting tool.
