Allen John George Sheppard, Baron Sheppard of Didgemere Kt KCVO FRSA (* December 25, 1932 - March 25, 2015 ) was a British economic manager and politician of the Conservative Party , who had been a life peer member of the House of Lords since 1994 .

Life

Professional career

After attending school and studying, Sheppard worked for Ford in Great Britain and Ford of Europe between 1958 and 1968 , before moving to the Rootes Group as a director in 1968 . He then became director of the British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1971 . In 1975 he moved to the conglomerate Grand Metropolitan plc as a manager and first became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its subsidiary Watney Mann & Truman Brewers and then Managing Director of the group, before becoming CEO between 1986 and 1993 and also Chairman of the Executive Board from 1987 to 1996 Metropolitan plc was.
