Allmannsdorf (Constance)

Allmannsdorf is an administrative district of Konstanz on the right bank of the Rhine . It is located to the west and above Staad and above Lake Constance . The County Allmannsdorf arose from the larger area, former rural community Allmannsdorf that on January 1, 1915 incorporated was.

history

Former municipality of Allmannsdorf

From 1272 Allmannsdorf belonged to the Mainau region of the Teutonic Order - Kommende Mainau. In 1806 the Teutonic Order was secularized in the German states allied with France . The property (land or property) fell to the Grand Duchy of Baden . From 1806 to 1914, the municipality of Allmannsdorf also included the administrative districts of Staad (Konstanz) , Egg (with the island of Mainau and the former St. Katharinen monastery ), Königsbau and the greater part of Petershausen-Ost .

Incorporation in Constance

The contract for incorporation into the city of Konstanz was signed in early 1914, approved by the Interior Ministry in June 1914 and came into force on January 1, 1915. Allmannsdorf kept its own cemetery, the Allmannsdorfer Friedhof .

A striking building is the Otto Moericke Tower , visible from afar from Lake Constance , the former Staader water tower. The Loretto Chapel from 1638 was built in thanks for the withdrawal of the Swedes in 1633 during the Thirty Years' War .
