Allmendfeld is a district of Gernsheim in the southern Hessian district of Groß-Gerau with approx. 600 inhabitants.
history
Allmendfeld was founded in 1937 shortly after the Hessenaue and is therefore the youngest town in Hesse. The district was formed from parts of Gernsheim, Crumstadt , Pfungstadt and Hähnlein . The name Allmendfeld is derived from the common land . The architecture of larger manors with adjacent farmland is comparable to that of the Hessenaue. Another town in this context is Riedrode . All three farming villages were re-established in the 1930s as part of National Socialist support measures. Another model farming village called Mittel-Roden was no longer completed.
Mainly North Hessian families settled in Allmendfeld, who bought and managed an estate with large arable land.
First Allmendfeld had been established as a separate municipality, but was then at 31 December 1971 as part of the administrative reform, together with Klein-Rohrheim on a voluntary basis in the city Gernsheim incorporated . For both parts of the city, a local district with a local advisory board and mayor was set up according to the Hessian municipal code.
In 1999 a small Roman fort was discovered in the district and excavated in the following years ( see main article: Small fort Allmendfeld ).
Allmendfeld was included in 2009 as a funding priority in the village renewal program of the state of Hesse.
