Hessenaue is a district of the municipality of Trebur in the southern Hessian district of Groß-Gerau . The village is a re-establishment from the time of National Socialism .

geography

location

Hessenaue is located in southern Hesse about 2 km east of the Rhine in the right bank of the northern Upper Rhine valley , a deepening of the Hessian Ried near the river , which in turn is part of the Upper Rhine Plain . Due to its proximity to the Rhine, this part of the reed was frequently hit by floods in the winter months and therefore remained free of settlement for centuries.

Village structure

Despite its small size, Hessenaue can be divided into two unofficial districts that go back to the time it was founded: the eastern upper village and the western lower village. The National Socialists are said to have laid out the village in the form of a swastika , as can still be seen in the aerial photo .

history

Hessenaue was founded in 1939 as the "community mark of the bourgeois community Hessenaue" from the districts of the villages of Geinsheim with 102 ha, Trebur with 180 ha, the Treburer Auen with 76 ha, Astheim with 112 ha and parts of the independent district Kornsand with 200 ha. The National Socialist planners believed that they had found a good place here for the construction of a hereditary farm village . The agricultural characteristics of this district can still be clearly seen through the high proportion of farms. Two dikes were built to protect against the risk of flooding. A military airfield was established in the area during World War II.

Until 1951 the community was administered from Geinsheim. On October 1, 1951, the properties combined to form the Hessenaue settlement were spun off from the communities of Astheim, Geinsheim, Trebur, the independent districts of Treburer Auen and Kornsand, and merged into a new community with the place name "Hessenaue".

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipalities of Astheim , Geinsheim , Hessenaue and Trebur were merged into one municipality with the name Trebur on January 1, 1977 by the law on the reorganization of the district of Groß-Gerau . Local districts according to the Hessian municipal code were not established.

In 2005 the winter dike was renewed along its entire length, while the summer dike remained untouched.
