Aloe karasbergensis is a species of aloes in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet karasbergensis refers to the occurrence of the species on the Great Karas Mountains in Namibia.

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe karasbergensis has a very short stem-forming growth, is simple or has up to 19 shoots. The 15 to 20 ovate-lanceolate leaves form a dense rosette . Their pale glauke , dark green striped leaf blades are 40 to 50 centimeters long and 15 to 20 centimeters wide. The pale cartilaginous leaf margins are slightly wavy. Edge teeth are not formed.

Inflorescences and flowers

The inflorescence has one to three branches and reaches a length of 50 to 60 centimeters. The loose grapes are conical. The narrow deltoid bracts are 3 to 6 millimeters long. The rather cloudy red flowers are on 8 to 12 millimeter long peduncles and are 25 to 27 millimeters long. At the level of the ovary , the flowers are 7 millimeters in diameter. Above that, they are narrowed to 4 millimeters. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 6 millimeters. The stamens and the pen stand out 1 to 2 millimeters from the flower.

Aloe karasbergensis is common in Namibia and the South African province of Limpopo .

The first description by Neville Stuart Pillans was published in 1928. A nomenclature synonym is Aloe striata subsp. karasbergensis (Pillans) Glen & DSHardy (1987).
