Alois Ferdinand Rieber (born January 16, 1876 in Beschau , Bohemia ; † April 15, 1944 in Prague ) was a German-Bohemian sculptor .

Rieber was the son of the Petschau clothing maker Johann Rieber. His first activity is proven as a porcelain painter in Selb in the Fichtel Mountains . In the years from 1894 Alois Rieber studied at the painting academy in Prague with Pirner. After the school was transformed into the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague , he attended the special school for sculpture with the Czech Josef Václav Myslbek (1848-1922), the creator of the equestrian monument of St. Wenceslas on Wenceslas Square in Prague. 1901–1920 he was a secondary tutor for modeling at the Nikolander Realschule in Prague and 1902–1920 at the 2nd German Realschule in Prague-Lesser Town and was assistant to the chair for freehand and ornament drawings at the German Technical University in Prague.

1907–1909, after Laufer's departure, he became an associate professor in 1920 and after the death of Franz Schwertfeger (1922) he was also head of the chair and in 1928 a. Professor of modeling, figure and life drawing. 1920–1944 Alois Rieber was professor at the German Technical University in Prague , chairman of the examination committee for the teaching post for freehand drawing at secondary schools and member of the board of trustees of the Modern Gallery, settled as a sculptor in Prague and undertook several study trips to Italy, France, England, Holland, Belgium and Germany.

His teachers included u. a. Maxmilián Pirner , Václav Brožík and Josef Václav Myslbek . Until 1944 he was professor at the German Technical University in Prague, after 1945 the Czech Technical University in Prague .

Rieber created various monuments in Prague, Teplitz , and Podmolky as well as grave sculptures in Prague and Reichenberg . During the First World War (1914–1918) he was a member of the kuk war press quarter and during this time also created the Wehrmann in Eisen in the “German House” in Prague's New Town. In addition, Rieber made portrait studies , plaques and figurative compositions.

Alois Rieber is the younger brother of Josef Rieber , canon lawyer and university professor in Prague.
