Altneckar Horkheim is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg cities of Heilbronn and Lauffen am Neckar and the municipality of Nordheim .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of November 26, 1987 and, according to the ordinance on the protected area, has a size of 43.2 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 1.155. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 162128 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The reserve is located between Nordheim and the Heilbronn district Horkheim . It includes the old arm of the Neckar with a natural river landscape such as gravel banks, gravel corridors, steep banks and shallow water areas.

The NSG is located in the natural area 123 - Neckar Basin within the main natural unit 12 - Neckar and Tauber-Gäuplatten and belongs to the 1241 hectare FFH area No. 7021-342 Northern Neckar Basin .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is to maintain a natural stretch of the Neckar and adjacent areas as well as to preserve the gravel banks and the bank zones with their different habitats for animal and plant communities.
