Prallhang of the Neckar near Lauffen is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg community Talheim (district of Heilbronn) and the cities of Heilbronn and Lauffen am Neckar .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of February 15, 1984 and, according to the ordinance on the protected area, has a size of 2.96 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 1.120. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 165032 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The protected area is located in the Neckar Valley west to northwest of Talheim in the Heilbronn district , includes the side of the rocky slope at the Neckar knee there, extends over two kilometers along the right bank and further down the valley along the lower slope and opens up the Upper Muschelkalk . Parts of this rock face were enlarged by quarrying. The steep face is home to a large number of rare and particularly remarkable plant species for this area. These include noble yarrow (Achillea nobilis), noble gamander (Teucrium chamaedrys), woad (Isatis tinctoria), white stonecrop (Sedum album), cypress spurge (Euphorbia cyparissias), eyelash pearlgrass (Melica cilisata) eu, gamanderry (Melica ciliata), gamander . Small meadow button (Sanguisorba minor) and upright ziest (Stachys rectan).

The NSG is located in the natural area 123 - Neckar Basin within the main natural unit 12 - Neckar and Tauber-Gäuplatten and belongs to the 1241 hectare FFH area No. 7021-342 Northern Neckar Basin .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, an essential protection purpose is to secure and maintain this geological outcrop, including the dry stone walls with its floristic and faunistic companions.
