The Altneihauser Feierwehrkapell'n ( Bavarian for Altneuhauser Feuerwehrkapelle ) is a nine-member brass band and cabaret group from the Upper Palatinate . The members of the ensemble come from the area around the town of Windischeschenbach .

history

The ensemble has existed since 1985 and was initially primarily known in the northern Upper Palatinate. Its name is derived from the Altneuhaus biotope in the Waldnaabtal nature reserve . The Altneihauser Feierwehrkapell'n is headed by Norbert Neugirg , who has been the only full-time manager and copywriter since 2000. With the television appearances at Carolin Reiber in the vernacular hit parade in the ZDF and particularly by the since 2006 annual appearances in the TV show carnival in Swiss francs of the BR television she became known to a wider audience. Since then, the group has performed more and more nationwide, the occasions range from birthdays and private celebrations to public events, such as the farewell to the Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber at the Bavarian Representation in Berlin.

Appearance 2018

When appearing at Carnival in Franconia in 2018 , after some sexist jokes, a song about the 24-year-old wife of French President Emmanuel Macron was perceived as a scandal by many viewers and the media. She was referred to as a “well-retracted sledge”, “a well-hung lady” and “the sharpest old hut”. In addition to isolated boos during the show, there were numerous critical voices afterwards.

program

The performances of the Altneihausers in historical fire brigade uniforms represent a mixture of brass music and political cabaret. Neugirg adapts his funny, sometimes politically provocative speeches as well as the pieces of music performed depending on the occasion and audience. The performance, which is always in rhyme form, is strongly reminiscent of the derblecken popular in Bavaria by politicians. The stage program is developed and rehearsed under the direction of director Christian Höllerer.

Fire hymn

In 2003 the Altneihauser Feierwehrkapell'n composed a fire hymn in recognition of the efforts of fire fighters all over the world. In contrast to other compositions by the ensemble, the anthem has a very serious character and was recommended by the Bavarian Fire Brigade Association for playing and singing on official occasions. The hymn was interpreted by several groups, including the Regensburger Domspatzen and the Army Music Corps 4 Regensburg. As it is supposed to honor firefighters around the world, it has also been translated into English . It also received international attention. For example, the Governor of California , Arnold Schwarzenegger , reacted with a letter of thanks on official stationery from the US state of California after the fire department anthem was sent on CD .
