Alvin Johnson

Alvin Saunders Johnson (born December 18, 1874 in Dakota County , Nebraska , USA ; † June 7, 1971 in Upper Nyack , Rockland County , New York , USA) was an American economist and initiator and founding president of the University of Exile at the New School in New York .

Life

Johnson studied at the University of Nebraska and Columbia University , where he received his Ph.D. received his doctorate . He has taught at Columbia University, the University of Nebraska, the University of Texas at Austin , the University of Chicago , Stanford University, and Cornell University . In 1936 he was elected president of the American Economic Association . In 1942 he was elected a member of the American Philosophical Society .
