Amancio Escapa Aparicio OCD (born March 30, 1938 in Cistierna , Spain ; † May 5, 2017 ) was a Spanish religious and auxiliary bishop in Santo Domingo .

Life

Amancio Escapa Aparicio joined the Order of the Discalced Carmelites and was ordained a priest on April 22, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Cenae and auxiliary bishop in Santo Domingo on May 31, 1996 . The Archbishop of Santo Domingo, Nicolás de Jesús Cardinal López Rodríguez , donated him episcopal ordination on July 6 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Juan Félix Pepén y Soliman , auxiliary bishop emeritus in Santo Domingo, and François Robert Bacqué , apostolic nuncio in the Dominican Republic .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on July 4, 2016.
