action

The American adventurer and paleontologist Kevin Hall stays in a small hotel in the Brazilian no man's land. There he happened to find out how a tour group would like to fly back to civilization the next day; Before that, the legendary “Valley of the Dinosaurs” should be visited, an area closed to visitors with the remains of prehistoric animals . The young researcher's adventurous curiosity is instantly aroused. The charter plane finally takes off with Kevin, a pilot and seven other passengers. In addition to Prof. Ibañez and his attractive daughter Eva, the motley heap also includes a sleazy photographer, two photo models and the Vietnam veteran Capt. John Heinz and his ex-wife. On the way, however, the small aircraft gets into violent turbulence and crashes.

Three people die in the emergency landing in the middle of the Amazon , including the pilot. The six survivors are now forced to make their way through the impassable jungle on foot . The arduous walk through the cannibal area is subsequently made more difficult by quarrels about the leadership of the community. Meanwhile, the dangerous flora and fauna do the rest. There are more fatalities. At some point the decimated team falls into the hands of the cannibals. Eva and model Belinda are abducted, but shortly afterwards Kevin freed and rescued them.

On the run from the savages, the remaining trio meets the seedy mine owner China, who is digging for precious stones in the middle of the jungle under unworthy, almost slave-like conditions . For the survivors of the plane crash, this is where the real ordeal begins. Humiliation, torture and murder set in. Kevin is tied up. Eva raped and Belinda killed while trying to escape. The paleontologist succeeds in liberation at some point; then this mine owner knocks down China and its entourage. In the end, Kevin and Eva flee from the scene of the horror in a previously captured helicopter .

background

Amazonas - Caught in the hell of the jungle is often touted as the last cannibal film in Italy, although the ogre-eaters are only a marginal aspect of the production and the film is a Brazilian production. In Great Britain this impression was reinforced by offering the film as a sequel to Umberto Lenzi's Cannibal Ferox (published in Germany as Die Rache der Kannibalen ). Other titles put another aspect to the fore: The international distribution title Massacre in Dinosaur Valley , and the French Prisonnières de la vallée des dinosaures also tried to make references to Jurassic Park . Another German-language title is Survivor - Caught in the hell of the jungle .

Tarantini, who became internationally known in the mid-1970s with the sex clothes Flotte Teens and hot jeans , does without pseudo-real events; as well as real animal killings, which were often part of the genre reproductions during the cannibal film boom.

In addition to the American actor Michael Sopkiw, only Brazilian actors act here.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote that the production was an "adventure film according to the conventional patterns" .
