Ambukiw ( Ukrainian Амбуків ; Russian Амбуков Ambukow , Polish Ambuków ) is a village in the far west of the Ukrainian Volyn Oblast with about 200 inhabitants (2006).

On November 3, 2015, the village became a part of the newly founded municipality Ustyluh ( Устилузька міська громада Ustyluska miska hromada ) in Volodymyr-Volynskyj district . Until then, the village belonged to the Ludyn district council ( Лудин ).

Ambukiw is located near the mouth of the Huczwa in the Bug , which forms the border with Poland and the EU here. The district center Wolodymyr-Wolynskyj is 31 km east and the city of Novovolynsk 22 km southeast of the village.

history

The village was mentioned in writing in 1577 for the first time and belonged to the third partition of Poland the nobility Republic of Poland (in the province Bełz ), then came to the Russian Empire , where the government Volyn lay Ambukow was called. In 1918/1921 it fell to Poland and came to the Wolhynia Voivodeship in the powiat Włodzimierz , Gmina Chotiaczów . As a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact , the Soviet Union occupied the area. After the German attack on the Soviet Union in 1941, the place was under German rule until 1944 (incorporated into the Reichskommissariat Ukraine ), after the Second World War it was annexed by the Soviet Union and added to the Ukrainian SSR . Since the collapse of the Soviet Union , it has belonged to the independent Ukraine since 1991.
