The American League Division Series 2016 (ALDS) in baseball took place between October 6-10, 2016 and is part of the postseason of the 2016 MLB season . It is used to determine which two teams will compete against each other in the 2016 American League Championship Series . These are two best-of-five series in which the winners of the three divisions of the American League and the winners of the wildcard game take part. The series is played in mode 2-2-1, i.e. the better seeded team has home rights in games 1, 2 and 5.
