The National League Division Series 2016 (NLDS) took place between October 7th and 13th, 2016 and is part of the postseason of the 2016 MLB season . It was used to determine which two teams competed against each other in the National League Championship Series 2016 . There were two best-of-five series in which the winners of the three divisions of the National League and the winners of the wildcard game participated. The series was played in mode 2-2-1, i.e. the better seeded team had home rights in games 1, 2 and 5.

- (1) Chicago Cubs (Central Division Champion, 103-58) versus San Francisco Giants (Wild Card Winner, 87-75)
- (2) Washington Nationals (East Division Champion, 95-67) versus (3) Los Angeles Dodgers (West Division Champion, 91-71)
