Amphoe Ban Khwao ( Thai : อำเภอ บ้านเขว้า ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in Chaiyaphum Province . The province of Chaiyaphum is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from north): the Amphoe Nong Bua Daeng , Mueang Chaiyaphum , Noen Sa-nga , Chatturat and Nong Bua Rawe . All Amphoe are in Chaiyaphum Province.

history

Ban Khwao was initially set up as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) on January 1, 1955 , by separating the two tambon Ban Khwao and Talat Raeng from the Amphoe Mueang Chaiyaphum. On July 23, 1957, Ban Khwao got full amphoe status.

economy

The area around Ban Khwao is known for the production of high quality Thai silk .

The district of Ban Khwao is divided into six tambon ("subdistricts" or "parishes"), which are further subdivided into 73 muban ("villages").

Local administration

There are four municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Thung Thong (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ทุ่ง ทอง ) consists of parts of the Tambon Ban Khwao.
  • Talat Raeng (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ตลาด แร้ง ) consists of the whole Tambon Talat Raeng.
  • Lum Lamchi (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ลุ่ม ลำ ชี ) consists of the whole tambon Lum Lamchi.
  • Ban Khwao (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้านเขว้า ) consists of the remaining parts of the tambon Ban Khwao.

There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):

  • Chi Bon (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ชี บน )
  • Phu Laen Kha (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ภู แลน คา )
  • Non Daeng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล โนน แดง )
