Amphoe Bamnet Narong ( Thai : อำเภอ บำเหน็จณรงค์ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the south of Chaiyaphum Province . The province of Chaiyaphum is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

The neighboring districts start clockwise from the west: the Amphoe Thep Sathit , Sap Yai and Chatturat in the province of Chaiyaphum and the Amphoe Dan Khun Thot and Thepharak in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima .

history

In the early Rattanakosin period, the area of ​​what is now Bamnet Narong was still a strategic border fortification. In 1827, during the reign of King Nang Klao ( Rama III ) , Prince Anuwong of the Kingdom of Vientiane revolted against the Siamese Kingdom. In the fight against his troops at Nakhon Ratchasima, soldiers from Bamnet Narong proved their bravery. King Nang Klao then promoted the leader to Phra Ritthi Rue Chai ( พระ ฤ ทธิ ฤา ชัย ) and Bamnet Narong to Mueang Bamnet Narong, subordinate to Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima.

In 1897 Bamnet Narong was downgraded to an amphoe of Chaiyaphum Province, and in 1903 again to the "Tambon Ban Chuan" of Chatturat district . In 1905 "Tambon Ban Chuan" was promoted to a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) with the name Ban Chuan, in 1939 it was renamed back to its original name. On June 24, 1956, Bamnet Narong was promoted to an Amphoe.

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Ban Phet (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน เพชร ) consists of parts of the Tambon Ban Phet.
  • Bamnet Narong (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บำเหน็จณรงค์ ) consists of parts of the Tambon Ban Chuan.
