Amphoe Erawan ( Thai : อำเภอ เอราวัณ , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː ʔēːrāːwān ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the east of Loei Province . The province of Loei is located in the northwestern part of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring counties and areas are (clockwise from south): Pha Khao , Wang Saphung , Mueang Loei, and Na Duang districts in Loei Province, and Na Wang and Si Bun Rueang districts of Nong Bua Lamphu Province .

The Lamnam Suai (Thai: ลำน้ำ สวย - Suai Waterway ) is an important river in the county.

history

Erawan was initially set up as a “branch circle ” ( King Amphoe ) on April 1, 1995 , when the area of ​​today's district was separated from the Wang Saphung district .

On May 15, 2007 the Thai government decided to raise all 81 King Amphoe to simple amphoe status in order to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.

The district got its name after the Erawan Cave , which is located today in the neighboring Amphoe Na Wang near the district boundary.

Symbols

The district's motto is: Erawan , big elephant, home of the sweet Longan , tradition of 100,000 rockets, land of silk production (Thai: เอราวัณ ช้างใหญ่ ถิ่น ลำไย ขาม หวาน ตำนาน บั้งไฟ แสน ดิน แดน ผ้า ไหม งาม ).

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Erawan (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เอราวัณ ) consisting of the complete tambon Erawan.
  • Pha In Plaeng (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ผา อินทร์ แปลง ) consisting of the complete tambon Pha In Plaeng.

There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):

  • Pha Sam Yot (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ผา สาม ยอด ) consisting of the complete tambon Pha Sam Yot.
  • Sap Phaiwan (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล ทรัพย์ ไพ วัลย์ ) consisting of the complete Tambon Sap Phaiwan.
