Amphoe Wichian Buri ( Thai : อำเภอ วิเชียรบุรี , pronunciation: [ wíʧian-bùriː ]) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the southern part of Phetchabun Province , which is part of the northern region of Thailand .
geography
Neighboring districts are (clockwise): Bueng Sam Phan ( Phetchabun Province ), Phakdi Chumphon and Thep Sathit ( Chaiyaphum Province ), Si Thep ( Phetchabun Province ), and Phaisali ( Nakhon Sawan Province ).
history
Historically, the Wichian Buri area was administered by the Mueang Tha Rong. King Phra Nang Klao (Rama III) elevated Tha Rong to the rank of city ( Mueang ) by combining Bua Chum and Chai Bandan into a unit and giving it the name Wichian Buri. When King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) created the Monthon Phetchabun, Wichian Buri was subordinated to Phetchabun in 1898. The district's name was changed to Tha Rong by the law of April 17, 1939, but changed back to Wichian Buri in 1944.
