The Schwandorf District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of 73 district courts in Bavaria .

history

In 1803, the district courts of Burglengenfeld, Nabburg and Neunburg vorm Wald were established in what is today the district of Schwandorf . They belonged to the Regenkreis , which was renamed Upper Palatinate and Regensburg (later only Upper Palatinate ) in 1838 . In 1862, the Burglengenfeld district office was created from the Burglengenfeld and Schwandorf district courts, with the Schwandorf district court being newly created as a court authority from 19 municipalities of the Burglengenfeld district court. The Schwandorf Regional Court was transferred to the Schwandorf District Court with the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act in 1879. With the entry into force of the law on the organization of ordinary courts in the Free State of Bavaria (GerOrgG) on July 1, 1973, the district court of Neunburg vorm Wald was repealed and its district, with the exception of the districts of Großenzenried, Hillstett , which were added to the district court of Cham as part of the new district of Cham and Pillmersried assigned to the Schwandorf District Court. The Nabburg and Burglengenfeld branches of the Schwandorf District Court, established in 1973, were dissolved after 2005 and also assigned to the Schwandorf District Court.

The district court district covers the entire district of Schwandorf . Around 143,000 people live in this district. The court has first instance jurisdiction for civil , family and criminal matters.

Ewald Ebensperger was the director of the local court until June 1, 2020. His permanent representative is Petra Froschauer who succeeded him.

Superior courts

The District Court of Amberg is superordinate to the District Court of Schwandorf , both of which in turn belong to the district of the Nuremberg Higher Regional Court .

Courthouse

The courthouse is located on Kreuzbergstrasse in Schwandorf . All branches were closed in 2015 at the latest.
