history

In the area around Würzburg, after the secularization of the Würzburg Monastery by Bavaria, the older district courts "Würzburg links des Main" and "Würzburg right des Main" as well as the "City Court Würzburg" were established. In 1806 the area came to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg , with which it fell back to Bavaria after 1814 .

The older regional courts were judicial and administrative authorities in the Kingdom of Bavaria , which were replaced in their function as administrative authorities by the district offices in 1862 and in their function as courts by the local courts in 1879 . The City Court of Würzburg became the District Court of Würzburg I, the previous District Court of Würzburg became the District Court of Würzburg II. Today's District Court of Würzburg emerged from the Würzburg District Court at the same time .

The Würzburg I and II district courts were merged in 1892 with the inauguration of the Würzburg Palace of Justice .

Superior courts

The District Court of Würzburg and the Higher Regional Court of Bamberg are superordinate to the Würzburg District Court.
