Amy Heckerling

Amy Heckerling (born May 7, 1954 in New York City ) is an American film director and screenwriter .

Life

Heckerling studied film arts at New York University , then graduated from the American Film Institute's AFI Conservatory . She made her debut with the school comedy I Believe, I'm Standing in the Woods (1982) starring Sean Penn , Jennifer Jason Leigh and Judge Reinhold , which was inducted into the National Film Registry in 2005 . The films Look who's talking! (1989) and Look, Who Is Talking 2 (1990) she shot the film Clueless - What Else! With John Travolta and Kirstie Alley . (1995) with Alicia Silverstone . For the film Clueless - What Else! , for which she also wrote the screenplay, she won the National Society of Film Critics Award and was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award. From 1996 to 1999 she directed the television series Clueless - Die Chaos-Clique . In the film Loser - Also Losers Have Luck (2000) with Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari , she was not only active as a director, but also as a screenwriter and film producer. In 2012 she directed the romantic vampire comedy Vamps - Dating with Bite with Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter and Sigourney Weaver in the lead roles.

Heckerling was married to director Neal Israel and is the mother of actress Mollie Israel, who was born in 1985 .
