Anchnesneferibre , daughter of Pharaoh (King) Psammetich II. And his wife Tachuit , was in the 26th Dynasty around 595-525 BC. Chr. God's Wife of Amun . It also wore from around 595 to 560 BC. The title of high priestess of Amun in Thebes .
As a stela from Karnak attests, Anchnesneferibre was sent to Thebes and adopted by her predecessor Nitokris . Eight years later, in year 4 of the reign of her brother Apries (approx. 586 BC), when her predecessor Nitokris died, she took over the office of the wife of God of Amun. As the “Consort of Amun” she had great political power and ruled Thebes for a period of 60 years. She held her office during the reign of four pharaohs, those of her father Psammetich II, Apries, Amasis and Psammetichs III. , until the beginning of the Persian rule . With the Persian rule, the office of God's wife of Amun was abolished. Her burial chapel is located in the temple area of Medinet Habu . She is represented by several reliefs and statues in Karnak. Its black basalt sarcophagus was reused in the Ptolemaic period by a man named Pymentu and is now in the British Museum .
