RAC (musician)

André Allen Anjos (* in Porto , Portugal ) is a Portuguese DJ and music producer . He gained fame with his music project RAC (Remix Artist Collective), with which he won the Grammy in the category Best Remix Recording at the 2017 Grammy Awards .

biography

After finishing school in Portugal, Anjos moved to the United States and studied music business at Greenville College . The Remix Artist Collective was founded by him at the end of 2006, further members at that time were the American Aaron Jasinski and the Dutch Chris Angelovski, later Andrew Maury and Karl Kling joined them. RAC create many remixes by artists such as Kings of Leon , Lana Del Rey , Yeah Yeah Yeahs , Edward Sharpe, Death Cab for Cutie , Phoenix , Surfer Blood, Foster the People or Echosmith . In 2008 they released the first EP Nintendo vs. Sega . From 2012 Anjos continued the project alone. After the Cherrytree Records label signed RAC, he released the Don't Talk To EP in October 2013 . Stranger's first studio album was released on April 1, 2014. RAC composed and produced the soundtrack for the computer game MasterSpy . He has performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival , Lollapalooza and the Ultra Music Festival , among others .

After Anjos had already been nominated for Best Remix Recording at the 2016 Grammy Awards , but the award was given to Dave Audé , he won this category at the 2017 Grammy Awards with his remix of the song Tearing Me Up by Bob Moses.
