André Uzulis (2017)

André Uzulis (born January 23, 1965 in Hanover ) is a German journalist , historian and author . Uzulis has been editor-in-chief of the security policy magazine Loyal since 2020 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Uzulis completed an editorial traineeship at the Braunschweiger Zeitung from 1984 to 1985 . He then worked there as a local editor in Gifhorn.

From 1987 to 1992 he studied history, political science and French literary studies at the Universities of Hanover and Lille with a Magister Artium (MA) degree and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. In his dissertation he dealt with the role of news agencies in the Third Reich.

After completing his studies, Uzulis was news editor at Deutsche Welle in Cologne, politics editor at Welt am Sonntag in Hamburg and deputy editor-in-chief and local manager at the Nordsee-Zeitung in Bremerhaven. From 2002 to 2010 he was editor-in-chief of Nordkurier in Neubrandenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. During this time the newspaper won the European Newspaper Award twice . Then he headed the "Nachrichten für Außenhandel" in Frankfurt / Main. From June to September 2010 Uzulis was editor-in-chief of the Südkurier . After founding the news agency dapd , Uzulis became head of foreign affairs and a member of the editorial board in 2010. From May to October 2012 he led a model project to set up a French-speaking foreign editorial office in Rabat (Morocco) and reported from North Africa as a foreign correspondent for the dapd.

From 2012 onwards, Uzulis was director of communication and media as well as press spokesman for the Trier diocese. As part of the diocese leadership, he was a member of the preparatory commission of the synod in the diocese of Trier, qua synodal office of the synod and until 2016 member of the synod's executive committee. In 2017 the diocese of Trier separated from Uzulis. In 2018 he announced his departure from the Catholic Church. From 2018 to 2019 Uzulis headed the press and public relations work of the FDP parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament in Wiesbaden . In 2019 he became head of corporate communications and press spokesman for Berliner Volksbank eG .

Uzulis has published several books. He is a lieutenant colonel and a member of the Association of Reservists of the German Armed Forces . He is also a member of the Eifelverein and the Rotary Club . From 2015 to 2018 he was deputy chairman of the Society of Catholic Publicists (GKP).
