André Vandeweyer (born June 21, 1909 in Tienen , † October 22, 1992 ) was a Belgian football goalkeeper .

career

Vandeweyer was active at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise between 1931 and 1939 . He completed 185 games for his club and was part of the legendary Union 60 , which remained unbeaten in 60 consecutive league games of the First Division between January 1933 and February 1935 . During this period he won the Belgian championship three times in a row with his club. From 1941 to 1945 he played for the RFC Hannutois and let his career end in 1946 with the RSC Wasmes .

National team

In 1933 and 1934 Vandeweyer was five times in the Belgian national team. He was nominated for the Belgian squad at the World Cup in 1934 and was in goal in the 2-5 defeat in the round of 16 against Germany . At the Football World Cup in 1938 , he was reappointed to the squad, but not used.

Trainer

After the end of his career as a player, he took over the coaching position at his parent club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in 1947, which he exercised until 1959. From January 1955 to June 1957 he was also the head coach of the Belgian national team.
