Andrés Vargas Peña
Andrés Vargas Peña (born December 6, 1946 in Villa de la Paz , San Luis Potosí state , Mexico ) is a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Xochimilco .
Life
Andrés Vargas Peña received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí on October 12, 1973 .
On June 22nd, 2010 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Utimmira and ordered him auxiliary bishop in Mexico City . The Archbishop of Mexico City, Norberto Cardinal Rivera Carrera , gave him and Adolfo Miguel Castano Fonseca same year on July 30, the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio to Mexico, Archbishop Christophe Pierre , and the Archbishop of San Luis Potosí, Luis Morales Reyes .
Pope Francis appointed him on September 28, 2019 as the first bishop of the diocese of Xochimilco , which was established on the same date . The inauguration took place on November 5, 2019.
